The Department

The New Caney Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1964 and managed by a Board of Directors elected by the volunteer membership. The New Caney Volunteer Fire Department was funded by contributions from the community and contract fees obtained from the Montgomery County Emergency Services District (ESD) #7.

In early June of 2006, the Montgomery County ESD #7 Board of Directors assumed responsibility for the operation of the Department. The Board changed the name of the Department to the New Caney Fire Department and hired the Department's first Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) certified, paid Fire Chief. The Fire Chief reports directly to the Montgomery County ESD #7 Board of Directors and is tasked with management of finances, personnel, emergency operations, and day-to-day operation of the New Caney Fire Department.

The New Caney Fire Department provides protection to the 66 square miles of Montgomery County ESD #7. A dedicated staff of twenty-four paid TCFP certified personnel and sixteen volunteer personnel proudly provide service to the District's residents.

The Department responded to over 2,300 incidents during 2007 from three fire stations, housing  two engines, two water tank trucks, two booster trucks, one rescue truck, one water rescue craft, and two medical response vehicle.
